February 6, 2009Police and firefighters began searching Thursday Feb. 5, 2009 for a young man last reported seen leaving a party after midnight Wednesday night.
LSAR was activated by London Police Services (LPS) to assist in the search effort for a missing Fanshawe College student, 20 year old Jesse Hare. Also involved in the search were LPS Canine unit, Police Auxiliaries, London Fire Department-water rescue, UWO Campus Police and the RCMP helicopter Team. Areas covered encompassed the area of Oxford Street to the south, Windermere Road to the north, Wharncliffe/Western Road to the west, and Richmond Street to the east. Also searched were the areas along Thames River around Gibbons Park. LSAR contributed to the search effort for 10 hours and the search was called off when the subject's body was found near the railroad tracks 4km away.
April 25-26, 2008An 84 year old man who has Alzheimer's went missing in north London on Friday April 25. The London Police department (LPS), Police Auxiliaries and London Search and Rescue (LSAR) searched for him through Friday night. LSAR was called out to search on Saturday again. Once we arrived LPS had found the man and requested our help to extricate him from an embankment near a river. He was carefully placed on a backboard and into a stokes litter and carried out by LSAR members, LPS and London Fire.

September 21-23, 2007LSAR was activated by the St. Thomas Police Service to assist in the search for a missing infant Abbygail Dice. St Thomas police suspended the search after 3 days to focus on the disappearance from an investigative angle. After a six-month investigation, a news release from St. Thomas City Police Service stated that they have determined that on September 18th, 2007, Baby Abbygail died while in the company of her mother. The infant's body has still not been recovered.
August 5, 2007The London Police Service activated the team at 18:25 Sat. Aug. 4th for a missing person. On arrival at the Emergency Department at LHSC we found that it was a male patient 46 years old with a brain injury and other medical conditions that had walked away from the hospital. We searched parts of the hospital and surrounding streets, homes and business's in the immediate vicinity of the hospital. The fire department was called in to search behind Parkwood hospital with a FLIR. Members of LSAR found after interviewing two businesses in the area that the subject had been seen after the Last Place Seen which were forwarded to the Search Managers in the Command Post. LSAR searched until 02:20 when LPS called off the search after exhausting the immediate search area. The missing man was later found outside the initial search area and was taken back to LHSC.
