Meetings and Training
General Meeting
The London Search and Rescue team meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. sharp. Meetings are held at the St. John Ambulance building located at 741 King Street in London Ontario. Members are expected to attend 80% of our meetings. If you are looking to join London Search and Rescue, please feel free to join us at a meeting (use rear entrance of building).General Training
In addition to our monthly meeting, the London Search and Rescue team also trains on the third Wednesday of every month. Training is typically held at the St. John Ambulance building, unless otherwise specified at a meeting. Members are expected to attend 80% of training.
Some of our typical training nights include: map work, reviewing search techniques, searcher safety, GPS navigation, first aid and CPR review, Notebooks and Note taking, Rappelling, Rock Climbing, Shelter Management, Radio Protocols and Usage.
Additional Training
Throughout the year, London Search and Rescue members will also complete First Aid and CPR training in addition to search training as mandated by OSARVA (Ontario Search and Rescue Volunteer Association). This training allows us to maintain search skills that can be utilized across Canada.Uniforms
London Search and Rescue uniform requirements for all trained members, to be worn at all times to meetings, training and searches are as follows:
- Red LSAR T-shirt
- Red LSAR ballcap
- Navy BDU Pants
- Search and Rescue OSARVA ID tag
Please note that it is the responsibility of each member to keep his or her uniform clean and in good repair at all times. In the event that any part of the uniform is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair (fading included), it is to be replaced by the member at full replacement cost in a timely fashion. The way members present themselves to the public is a reflection of the professionalism the organization strives to maintain. Until a member is fully trained a red LSAR T-shirt and dark pants should be worn.
